The definition of art is: "the expression or application of human creative skill and imagination, typically in a visual form such as painting or sculpture, producing works to be appreciated primarily for their beauty or emotional power." No matter your skill level, everyone has the capacity within them to create art!
All too often, I hear people say, "I wish I were artistic. I'm just not creative enough!" All you really need to create art is desire, materials, and maybe a little direction. I've found 5 simple projects that I hope will inspire you to start creating!
20 Minute Weekend Art Project from The New Domestic requires a canvas, some acrylic paint in one or more colors, and some painter's tape.
All you have to know how to do is choose a color or colors that you love, spread the paint around, peel tape, and wait for it to dry. How easy is that?
Spray Paint Flower Art from Simply Real Moms requires flowers or leaves, a canvas, and spray paint! That's it! And you can create beautiful, ethereal paintings perfect for your decor! All you have to be able to do is choose a color that you love, point, and spray! Just be sure to take precautions and spray paint in a ventilated area.
Paint Chip Mosaic from babylux on Tumblr requires paint chips (which are free!!), scissors, glue, and white paper. Personally, I would recommend something thicker than printer paper, like card stock or watercolor paper.
All you have to do is cut triangles of different shapes and sizes, arrange them into a mosaic, and glue them down! What you're left with is a colorful, interesting geometric piece of artwork that's sure to brighten up any room.
Fired Alcohol Ink Art from It's Always Autumn is a little eensy bit more complicated than the previous 3, but not much and the results are stunning!! You will need: a lighter, rubbing alcohol, a frame, and ink. It takes under 5 minutes and the link provided even includes a short video, demonstrating the technique!
Melted Crayon Art is all the rage, right now. 52 Kitchen Adventures gives you a step-by-step guide to making your own beautiful melted crayon masterpiece, perfect for decorating any room in the house, but especially a child's room! All you need is a canvas, a box of 64 crayons, some hot glue, and a hair dryer and you, too, can produce a stunning Crayola waterfall of color.
